BMW e83 X3 Leaky Valve and Covers

Does your e83 X3 have a leaky valve and covers? We can help! Book an appointment online for BMW repairs in Jacksonville, FL. We have the best labor rates in town.

Marketed in the USA from 2004-2010, the X3 is the first-generation of crossover vehicles made by BMW. It is sometimes referred to as the e83 because it was modeled after BMW’s 3-series. The all-wheel-drive X3 has a few common problems, including leaky valve and covers.

Owners of the X3 have complained of several leaks, even when the X3 has low mileage. The owners have noticed oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold every ten days up to two weeks. Another area where they noticed leakage includes the cover perimeter gasket, and also around the spark plug wells. If a spark plug covered in oil misfires or fails, it will cause the engine to sputter or jerk. This will cause serious damage to the engine so it needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

There are several forums online that recommend owners can fix this problem themselves. You can find detailed DIY videos and instructions. Unfortunately, there could be more than one place where your vehicle is leaking, and if you can’t pinpoint the leaks, then you could cause even more problems. We suggest that you seek the assistance of a certified BMW technician at Bavarian Rennsport to properly diagnose your leaks.

If your X3 is showing signs of oil leakage or other loss of fluids, you should have it repaired professionally. Contact your local German import repair technician at Bavarian Rennsport at your earliest convenience, so a small leak doesn’t become a big headache.
