Bavarian Rennsport maintains a stock of high-quality BMW, MINI, and PORSCHE core engines. The remanufactured engines that we provide have been run tested in the vehicle before dismantling. Once the engines are removed from the vehicle they are compression tested and leak down checked to confirm factory BMW, MINI and PORSCHE specifications. After passing the specifications test they are sealed up with cap-plugs, jet washed, dried, and sealed in plastic. All rebuilt engines are manufactured using only factory OEM replacement parts or better.

Why do I need a new engine?
Most engines reach catastrophic failures when the Bavarian Rensport service and maintenance schedule has been ignored, the vehicles internal components can suffer from a cooling system failure or oil starvation. When these engine components fail it will result in a non-operable vehicle that will require a new or remanufactured engine. The most common causes of engine failure come from either a broken water pump/thermostat or the oil pump is damaged and starved from low oil levels. When any of these common issues occur, different parts of the engine will become damaged and possibly inoperable. When replacing an engine, it’s important that you choose the right replacement option. Bavarian Rennsport understands that different customers will have different needs and budgets, as well as other constraints (warranty coverage, for instance).
Do I need a rebuilt engine or a new crate engine?
When disaster strikes, and you come in with a blown engine you are faced with two options to Rebuild your current motor or get a new Crate engine. This decision lies in your current circumstances and your expectations for the vehicle. Things like time, reliability, and budget can play major parts in that decision. We are here to provide you with the best possible service and get you back on the road with a smart but affordable option for your situation. You might find that rebuilding the blown engine is the right path to take, but for customers pressed for time, that won’t be the case.
Rebuilt or Remanufactured Engine?
A rebuilt engine involves removing the engine from the vehicle and completely disassembling it. Once the engine has been disassembled, cleaned, and inspected, all damaged parts are replaced with new or refurbished replacement parts. All new gaskets, seals, and lubricants are used in the assembly of the rebuilt engine that will meet BMW OEM standards. The most common components to be replaced include bearings, gaskets, seals, timing belt or chain, valve springs, and the oil pump. Major parts are replaced only if they are needed, and often include camshafts, crankshafts, and pistons. In the most severe cases, we will have to machine parts that have been warped. The Advantages of Rebuilding an engine is the connectivity and compatibility with the existing ECU and electrical system. The ECU is programmed to communicate with the engine originally installed in the vehicle. When a new engine is installed the ECU may have problems connecting and communicating with the new engine. When the engine has problems communicating to the vehicle it will require either a reprogramming of the ECU or replacement.
A Crate engine in our perspective would be a brand new engine coming straight from the BMW, MINI Cooper, And Porsche Dealerships. Some Companies classify a crate engine as a rebuilt engine with new internals but old external parts which we don’t believe in. Crate engines are more expensive than remanufactured engines, but they’re guaranteed to be in OEM condition and have a factory warranty. A crate engine will have the same lifespan as the engine in a car just rolling off the assembly line. Therefore Crate will be the best long-term solution for customers who plan to keep their car for as long as possible.
